I’ve seen many variations of the original Rice Krispies recipe, but this one grabbed my attention since I love dried cranberries and chocolate! I found this recipe on the back of the Ocean Spray Craisins bag; they called it Trail Mix Treasures. But I made some changes for my gluten-free friends (and myself).
- Butter or butter substitute like Plant Based Country Crock
- Marshmallows ~ regular or mini size ~ I used Dandies, which is also vegan
- Gluten-free crispy rice cereal (regular if GF isn’t necessary)
- Dried cranberries ~ I use unsweetened dried cranberries
- Roasted pumpkin seeds ~ salted or plain
- Semi-sweet mini chocolate chips ~ allergy-friendly like Enjoy Life Semi-Sweet Mini
- Extra regular size semi-sweet chocolate chips
These trail mix Krispies are bursting with flavor from all the tasty added ingredients. Of course, you can mix it up and add your favorite trail mix. You can store the krispie treats in an airtight container at room temperature for several days.
Try these Krispie treats: Gluten-Free Peanut Butter/SunButter Crispy Treats; the non-peanut version is delicious.
Enjoy!
