Simple Allergy-Friendly Salad Dressing
This is an easy, allergy-friendly olive oil salad dressing that will complement any mixed green and vegetable salad.

You won’t need more than just five common ingredients that are most likely already in your cupboard. And, of course, you can enhance the flavor of the dressing with additional spices or even a touch of Tabasco sauce if that sounds appealing.
The Ingredients For This Simple Allergy-Friendly Salad Dressing are:
- Olive oil
- Lemon juice ~ preferably fresh squeezed
- Dry mustard
- Salt
- Ground pepper
- Optional Tabasco sauce
- Italian Seasoning ~ optional
- Xanthan gum or guar gum ~ optional thickeners
This dressing has a fairly thin consistency, but you can easily thicken it by adding some guar gum or Xanthan gum. For a Low FODMAP diet, use guar gum.

Salads are more appealing when a variety of vegetables and even fruits are added to the mixed greens.
Try adding some of these fresh fruits and vegetables in your next salad:
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Grapes
- Mango
- Bok choy
- Swiss Chard ~ stems and leaves (I prefer the stems chopped small)
- Radishes
- Arugula
- Sprouts
Simple Allergy-Friendly Salad Dressing
2/3 cup Olive oil
1/4 cup plus 1 Tablespoon Lemon juice ~ preferably fresh squeezed
1 teaspoon Dry mustard
1/2-1 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Ground pepper
1/2 -1 teaspoon Italian seasoning ~ optional
1 teaspoon Xanthan gum or guar gum is optional to thicken the dressing
Optional drop or two of Tabasco
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until thoroughly combined. Store dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
