Ham & Pineapple Skewers ~ Gluten-Free

Ham & Pineapple Skewers are fun as well as satisfying. The flavorful yet simple sauce sizzles into the meat perfectly and the leftovers are amazing on pizza the next day for another easy dinner idea.

Ham isn’t something you will find on a skewer very often at our house. Mostly because I just don’t think of ham that way…but ham and pineapple skewers are fun, colorful, and even a delicious idea for a party.

A perfect dinner gets me in and out of the kitchen fast and my family loves their meal. This sweetly seasoned ham and pineapple skewer sitting over bed-tender white rice seem to be just the right combination.

Honestly; it doesn’t get any easier than this…

Serve over some fluffy white or brown rice. And watch your family devour!  It might even become a new favorite.

It’s time to heat up the barbecue and make the sauce!

Ham & Pineapple Skewers
3 Tbsp brown sugar.
2 Tbsp distilled white vinegar ~ lemon or lime juice for corn-free
1 Tbsp oil.
1 tsp prepared mustard.
3/4 – 1 pound ham, cut into 1-inch cubes.
1 fresh pineapple cut into 1-inch squares. I cut squares and triangles.
Metal or wood skewers.

Preheat the grill to high.

In a small bowl mix the sugar, vinegar, oil, and mustard. Set up skewers with ham and pineapple alternating.

Set prepared skewers on a large platter or baking pan with sides. Brush skewers with prepared sauce.

Place skewers on the grill and cook for about 8-10 minutes turning often and basting several more times as they cook.

*These are also perfect party food. Leave out the rice and serve the skewers alone with a napkin! No dishes!

Enjoy!
