- 1 lb lean ground beef turkey, or chicken
- 1 cup chopped onion chopped finely
- 1 cup chopped celery chopped finely
- 1 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce See allergy-free information in the notes or the original post.
In a skillet brown ground beef. Drain if necessary.
Add back to the skillet with chopped onion, celery, and garlic. Cook a few minutes then add mushrooms.
Let cook a couple of minutes and then add all other ingredients.
Simmer without a lid for 20-30 minutes. Wow! That was easy!
Serve on toasted buns, rolls (gluten-free if needed), or with rice. My son even likes this in a crunchy taco shell.
Please Note: Worcestershire sauce ~ Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce is gluten, peanut, soy, tree nut, dairy, shellfish, and egg-free. Annie's Worcestershire Sauce contains soy, cornstarch, and wheat.
Leftovers disappear quickly. I like to make a double batch and freeze half for a quick dinner or lunch another time. I hope you enjoy this quick, delicious dish.
Calorie and nutritional counts are without the bun.
