This chewy chocolate chip oat cookie has bananas, natural peanut butter, oats, and pure maple syrup…good quality ingredients. This recipe actually resulted from too many ripe bananas and a chocolate craving at the same time.

If you count weight watcher points plus, we are looking at just 2 points for each cookie. Not bad I would say.

To Make GF Heart-Healthy Chocolate Chip Oat Cookies Grab These Ingredients:

  • Cocoa powder
  • Ripe bananas
  • Natural peanut butter, I used creamy ~ sub another nut butter if needed
  • Pure Maple Syrup ~ Agave is an option as well
  • Vanilla extract
  • Water
  • Gluten-free flour or a GF flour blend ~ homemade Gluten-free flour blends.
  • Gluten-free old-fashioned oats.
  • Baking powder ~ corn-free if needed
  • Xanthan gum, or guar gum ~ add if gluten-free flour blends do not include this
  • Allergy-friendly mini semi-sweet chocolate chips like Enjoy Life, or semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Eat them up or freeze for later.  Pop a frozen cookie in your kid’s or your own lunch and by the time you’re ready to eat, the cookie will be as fresh as the day you baked them.

  1. I am just looking for the most heart healthy but not gluten-free or vegan. What do have for those of us looking for that kind of recipe both cookie and brownie?

    1. Hi Adeline,
Most of the cookies and brownies that say gluten-free flour blends, oat, or almond flour can be substituted with regular all-purpose flour. The one flour you can not do that with would be coconut flour from my experience. Also as far as vegan changes to recipes just use a dairy type butter and substitute eggs for the vegan eggs. For example one egg is equal to 1 flax egg or 3 tablespoons of aquafaba (garbanzo bean liquid) if you have a specific recipe you would like me to adjust for you let me know.
