easy dog treats with shredded carrots, oats, and applesauce

Easy Oat Cookies For Dogs

Easy Oat Cookies For Dogs are new, super simple treats you can make in about 30 minutes. Shredded carrots in this recipe add some fun color and nutrition. Carrots are especially nutritious for dogs when they are slightly cooked or steamed. Leave the cookies plain, or add a dollop of peanut butter on top.

Before baking the cookies, press an indention in the center, providing a place for the peanut butter or a slice of banana.

While the cookies are still warm, add 1/2 Tbsp of peanut butter on top of the cookie. The peanut butter will soften and have a smooth appearance which will firm up after it cools to room temperature, like Smucker’s Magic Shell. You could also leave the cookie plain or place a slice of banana on top.

These cookies can be stored in the refrigerator for up to seven days or freeze them for longer storage.

If you add peanut butter after the cookies have cooled, the peanut butter will stay soft, like frosting, and not firm up. It’s simply a matter of preference. Of course, your dog won’t care!

To Make These Easy Oat Cookies For Your Pup, You Will Need These Ingredients:

  • Unsweetened applesauce
  • Old-fashioned rolled oats
  • Carrots
  • All-purpose flour
  • Peanut butter ~ optional

I made larger cookies using two tablespoons of dough because we have a large lab, but I suggest one tablespoon of dough for small dogs.
